DEAR CAROLYN HAX: I have an old high school girlfriend who really hurt me. Not only did she not come to my wedding (for no apparent reason), she has not tried to send a card, gift or even call me since. She moved to the San Francisco Bay area about a year before my wedding and I live in D.C., but I never figured out why she didn't come. She had a great job and could afford the trip. I explained to her how upset I was, but never got much of a response.
I just found out through a mutual friend that her mother is dying. I figure I should set aside my anger and show my support during her time of need. Here's the dilemma ... don't you think she would have called me if she wanted a friend in me? Help me sort through this mess, if you can. Thanks!
