NSW:Police officer injured in brawl
SYDNEY, Aug 1 AAP - A police officer has been hospitalised after a brawl involving
about 100 people erupted in Sydney's CBD.
Riot squad officers were called to the corner of Argyle and Harrington Streets in The
Rocks about 2.30am (AEST) on Sunday after receiving reports about 100 people were fighting
inside and outside a hotel.
As fighting continued on the street, another fight broke out inside the bar and a glass
door was damaged.
A police constable was assaulted during the brawl and taken to Royal Prince Alfred
Hospital with facial injuries.
He is in a stable condition.
A 20-year-old Pendle Hill man was tasered and charged in connection with the alleged assault.
He will appear before Downing Centre Local Court later this month.
Seven other men were arrested in connection with the brawl.
They have been released pending further inquiries and the examination of CCTV footage.
