NSW: Don't take law into own hands, Nixon
Police Commissioner CHRISTINE NIXON has urged grief-stricken Victorians not to take
the law into their own hands .. as the police investigation into the deadly bushfires
continues.
She says she knows people are angry over the fires that claimed 181 lives and 18 hundred
homes .. but there's no place for vigilantism.
A 39-year-old man was charged over the Churchill fire in Gippsland on Friday .. he'll
appear in court tomorrow.
The fire that virtually wiped out Marysville .. north of Melbourne .. is also believed
to have been deliberately lit.
Ms NIXON's told the Seven Network she understands there's some legal action afoot but
had nothing to add to reports a power company is facing a class action over a fallen power
line thought to have sparked the Kinglake fire.
